UPDATE:

last wednesday we had an in-class essay. mine was two pages, twenty minutes before class was over I reread my essay and I hated it, I was embarrassed to turn it in. this wednesday we had our essays returned to us. while handing them out DiFranco forgot mine in his office, I had to wait after class. he came back with my essay, I got an A- ! he asked if he could present my essay to the rest of the class because it was structured well and was a perfect example of using quotes in an essay. I was shocked. he said I would have gotten a solid A had I mentioned  this one part of the book. but I am just fine with an A- when I thought I for sure had fucked that one up !
